One of the biggest upgrades Santana made to the bike wasn’t about speed or power. It was about being prepared when things don’t go to plan.

He pulled the factory halogen headlight and replaced it with a Desert Unlimited Baja Designs XL80 headlight.

From the start, this wasn’t meant to be a full race light setup. This is the bike’s daytime light. Something to stay visible, keep things simple, and not overcomplicate the setup during most of the ride.

But Baja has a way of changing plans fast.

If Santana misses a pit stop or runs later than expected, there’s a real chance he ends up riding into the evening without being able to swap over to a full dual Baja Designs race setup. That’s where this light matters.

The XL80 isn’t just a basic upgrade. It’s a serious amount of output compared to stock. Enough to confidently get you through the dark if you have to. Not ideal compared to a full race setup, but way better than being stuck out there underpowered and guessing your way through the desert.

That’s really what this build is about. Not just building for the perfect scenario, but backing ourselves up for the moments when things don’t go perfect.

Because out here, they usually don’t.
